THEME: The New ASEAN Economy

The Economic Society of Singapore (ESS) will be hosting the 44th Annual Conference of the Federation of ASEAN Economic Association (FAEA) from 29th to 30th November 2019 in Singapore. The theme of this year’s Conference is "The New ASEAN Economy".

The FAEA comprise the economic associations of the seven ASEAN countries – Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines. The FAEA endeavors to provide useful inputs to economic development of the region. These conferences also raise Singapore's profile as a center for economic research in Southeast Asia. The last four conferences organized by ESS (the 20th, 25th, 31st, and 38th FAEA Conferences) were particularly successful with more than 200 regional and international economists attending the event.

In an age of technological disruption and geopolitical uncertainty, the new ASEAN Economy faces a new set of challenges and opportunities. There will be changes in the way in which consumers make decisions, the operations of firms and how policies are being implemented in the region. On this regard, this conference seeks to bring together recent contributions in understanding the new ASEAN Economy.
